Privacy

This site collects nothing about you when you browse it. The one exception is the corrections form, and this page says exactly what it collects.

What Information Does This Site Collect?

  • No accounts or sign-ups.
  • No analytics, advertising or tracking tools, and no cookies.
  • What you type into the search boxes stays in your browser. The whole directory is sent to your browser when the page loads, and the search runs there. Your searches are not sent to us.
  • Visiting the site loads nothing from other companies, such as fonts, scripts or maps, so no one else is told that you visited.

What Happens When I Use the Corrections Form?

The corrections form is the only place on this site where we collect anything. If you send it, we receive what you type into it: who you are writing as, what you are asking for, your name, your email address, the agency and license number, what is wrong, and where we can check it.

  • Why. Only to answer your request and to keep a record of the changes we make.
  • Who handles it. The form sends your message through Formspree, a form service, which delivers it to us by email. Formspree’s own privacy practices apply to what it handles. Your browser contacts Formspree only when you press send, not when you visit the page.
  • How long. We keep correspondence about a request for as long as we need it to handle the request and to show what we changed and why.
  • What we do not do. We do not sell it, add you to a mailing list, or use it for anything else.

What Can the Hosting Company See?

Like any website, this one is served by a hosting company. Hosting companies commonly keep basic server logs, such as the address of the device that asked for a page and when, for security and to keep the service running. We do not use those logs to identify visitors.

What Happens When I Follow a Link to Another Site?

When you follow a link to an agency’s website or to the State of Maine, that site’s own privacy practices apply. If you contact an agency, what you tell it is between you and the agency.

Does This Directory Include Information About Individuals?

The directory is about agencies, not individuals. Where an agency’s name or its website is that of one person, we list it as the agency it is. To see where each detail comes from, read the About page.

Will This Privacy Policy Change?

If we ever add analytics or collect anything else, we will update this page first and say what we collect and why.

Who Can I Ask About Privacy?

Use the corrections form and choose “Something else.”
