Is This Directory Run by the State of Maine?

This directory is not run by, endorsed by or affiliated with the State of Maine or any of its agencies. The State’s public license list is one of our sources. The State’s own license lookup is the authoritative record of whether an agency is licensed.

How Can I Check an Agency’s License?

Before you hire an agency, confirm its license with the State. Open the lookup, search for the license number shown on the agency’s listing, and check that the status is active. You can also see the State’s inspection results for the agency there. Every listing links to the lookup and shows the license number to search for.

Does Being Listed Mean an Agency Is Recommended?

An agency appears here because the State shows it as licensed. We have not inspected, rated, reviewed or investigated any agency, and being listed says nothing about the quality, safety, price or availability of its care. Ask each agency about its services, costs, staff screening and training, and ask for references. Choose the agency that is right for the person who needs care.

Is This Medical, Legal or Financial Advice?

Nothing here is medical, legal, financial or insurance advice, and this site does not arrange care or refer anyone to an agency. We do not know the needs of the person you are caring for, and we cannot judge whether an agency is suitable.

Could This Information Be Out of Date?

The data was last updated October 7, 2026. Licenses, websites, phone numbers, email addresses and service areas change, and the State’s list can lag behind. Software reads the agencies’ websites and can misread them. We try to be careful and our methods are explained on the About page, but we do not promise that anything here is complete, current or error-free. To check a detail, contact the agency directly.

Who Owns the Agency and Brand Names?

Agency names, and franchise brand names such as Home Instead or Visiting Angels, belong to their owners. We use them only to identify the agencies listed. No agency or brand has sponsored this site or approved its listing.
